MW stations heard in England on August 27, 28

Barones stole the weekend with hugely entertaining international programmes on both nights, with a particularly long show on Sunday, heard here at just after 1700 and closing down at 0023 UTC! There were long spells with no fading at all and the Balkan station underneath was completely squashed. Interesting to hear stations audible in the UK from as early as 1700 UTC, with Batavier and Witte Tornado also coming through at that time

Very strong on Saturday night was Combinatie F16 and on Sunday Barcelona was hitting 55555 with very loud audio that could be heard for some way either side of his frequency on 1636! Regarding audio, Napoleon had a superb sound, and Albatros had a fine depth to his modulation

Good to hear Turftrekker for the second time in less than a week, and also to catch Osaka for the first time, coming through very well in qso after the close down of Matrix, who was doing very well indeed with his 100 watts of power

Sunday night ended with an interesting experiment from the UK station Underground, who was testing on 1645, firstly with 35w in AM and later with around 80w in SSB. Both signals was audible here, with the signal in USB particularly good
